A standard wired doorbell runs on low-voltage AC power (typically 16–24V) from a transformer in your home. A POE (Power over Ethernet) doorbell gets both power and data through a single Ethernet cable connected to a network switch or NVR recorder. POE installs require running a new Ethernet cable, which is why they're quoted separately based on your specific home layout.
